DescriptionPlans include three variant designs for a three story Colonial Revival house, featuring a hipped roof with overhanging eaves. Hipped roofs are also featured on the second floor rear balcony, and attic dormer windows. Other notable features of the house include front and rear porches supported by doric columns, as well as a glass paneled front door, and large three-sided bay window on the rear elevation.

Windows on the house are primarily louvered double-hung sash windows in either the six-over-six, or six-over-one configurations. Other windows include a large tri-part window on the first floor front elevation, and a rounded arch sash window found at the second floor stair landing on the rear elevation.

Twenty-one drawings comprise the set, including front, rear, north, and south elevations, as well as cellar, first floor, second floor, and attic plans. The cellar plans include a laundry, cold room, heater coal room, range coal room, and heater. The first floor plans include a rear porch, pantry, butler's pantry, kitchen, dining room, entry hall, living room, and veranda. The second floor plans include four chambers, a bath, hall, linen closet, and balcony. The attic plans include a chamber with closet.
Label TextWilliam T. Marchant designed numerous Colonial revival houses like this one in Hartford and nearby West Hartford during the early part of the twentieth century. The address of this particular house is unknown, but the style and date suggest that it was built either in the West End of Hartford or in the immediate area. Anyone with knowledge of the location of this house is invited to contact the Connecticut Historical Society at graphics@chs.org.
NotesSubject Notes: Though drawings show three different design concepts for Job#26, the bulk of drawings (1999.100.362.8 thru 1999.100.362.21) correspond to each other and probably represent the final design. However, none are finished plans and it is not clear if the house was ever built. Five drawings were not scanned. These drawings are sketches showing alternate plans for first and second floors. Drawing 1999.100.362.10 is not present with rest of drawings. (Ceder 9/6/2011)

Date Note: Although undated, drawings and design are similar to work William T. Marchant drafted between 1912 and 1918.
