DescriptionBurgundy red velvet fold-over purse with scalloped edges, worked with clear glass beads over paper templates (in a floral design). The outer edges are bound with pale gray silk ribbon, headed by a double row of clear beads, and edged with larger clear beads in a scalloped pattern. The purse is lined with silk, shot in two different shades of blue. One side has a pocket of the silk, which is gathered on a cord across the opening. The purse is interlined with plain cotton and probably paper.
NotesHistorical Note: Leverett Brainard (1843-1902) and Mary Jerusha Bulkeley (1843-1921) were married 29 November 1865.
