DescriptionOlive drab wool U.S. Army uniform coat with short lapels, two patch pockets covered by buttoned flaps over the chest, and two welted pockets covered by buttoned flaps over the hips. The coat closes at center front with four gold-tone metal buttons emblazoned with an American eagle and shield. The coat has a center back vent and a 1 1/2-inch-wide strip of self-fabric stitched across the back at the waistline like a belt. Each shoulder has a strap which buttons near the neck. The coat has six patches: on the proper left sleeve, above the wrist is a diagonal green-on-black stripe; above this is a green wool patch embroidered with four horizontal yellow bars (overseas service bars). At the top of the sleeve is a round blue patch, embroidered with a red arrow pointing upwards, surrounded by white star constellations (Pacific Theater). Below this patch is a gray-on-black woven patch with double chevron stripes above a "T" (technician fifth grade). This same patch appears on the right sleeve. At the top of the right sleeve is a round patch with a white six-pointed star outlined in red, with a red "A" in the center (possibly anti-aircraft insignia). Over the right breast pocket is a diamond-shaped olive green patch with a brocade-woven design of a yellow eagle with outstretched wings within a circle ("ruptured duck"--honorable service discharge).
The front of the coat is lined with olive green twill-woven cotton. The seam allowances are bound with the twill-woven cotton, also. The pockets are constructed of a slightly heavier olive green twill-woven cotton.
