DescriptionMen, women, boys, and girls crowd an open area in front of a large building with signs that read "3 RING CIRCUS" "PIELS BEER" "HAMBURGERS." Signs on a tent read "BUTTER PECAN / ICE CREAM 25" "GUESS / YOUR / AGE / YOU WIN A PRIZE". A large bunch of balloons is at the right. Most women wear dresses and high heeled shoes. A woman at the right is pushing a baby carriage.
NotesSubject Note: The Danbury Fair was an annual exhibition held in Danbury between 1821 and 1981. At first a traditional agricultural fair, the event later included large fiberglass sculptures, stock car racing, and amusement park rides. The former fairground is now (2011) the site of the Danbury Fair Mall. (Finlay 3/25/2011)
