DescriptionA crowd of men and women stand inside the main gate and ticket booths at the Danbury Fair, apparently listening to a man who stands in the foreground with his back to the camera. A large figure of Uncle Sam, a large tree, and pennants flying from flagpoles are in the background. Signs read: "This is the EXIT TO / RED / PARKING LOT" "EXIT - EXIT / NO RETURN" "ARENA GATE" "RETURN GATE."
NotesSubject Note: The Danbury Fair was an annual exhibition held in Danbury between 1821 and 1981. At first a traditional agricultural fair, the event later included large fiberglass sculptures, stock car racing, and amusement park rides. The former fairground is now (2011) the site of the Danbury Fair Mall. (Finlay 3/25/2011)
