DescriptionA young woman is standing beside a gown which is hanging from a wire coat hanger. The entire strapless gown appears to be crocheted, with a fabric lining. The hem of the gown rests on a table beside a trophy that reads "Danbury Fair." A prize ribbon on the wall reads "The Great Danbury Fair 1958." Additional crocheted items, including an afghan and doilies, are in the background.
NotesSubject Note: The Danbury Fair was an annual exhibition held in Danbury between 1821 and 1981. At first a traditional agricultural fair, the event later included large fiberglass sculptures, stock car racing, and amusement park rides. The former fairground is now (2011) the site of the Danbury Fair Mall. (Finlay 3/25/2011)
