DescriptionWomen and one man are looking at a display of quilts and needlework. One piece is labeled "1947 MNB" Women wear dresses, coats or jackets, and high-heeled shoes. Most wear hats. The man wears a suit and hat. A poster reads "DANBURY FAIR / OCT. 8 TO 12, 1912 / MILES OF MIDWAY / AEROPLANE FLIGHTS." A large overhead sign reads "[WO]MEN'S INDUSTRIAL"
NotesSubject Note: The Danbury Fair was an annual exhibition held in Danbury between 1821 and 1981. At first a traditional agricultural fair, the event later included large fiberglass sculptures, stock car racing, and amusement park rides. The former fairground is now (2011) the site of the Danbury Fair Mall. (Finlay 3/25/2011)

Date Note: Although the poster in the photograph is dated 1912, one of the quilts is dated 1947 and the people's clothing suggests a date in the late 1940s or early 1950s. (Finlay 7/20/2011)
