DescriptionA scene from American history depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In the interior of Independence Hall, Philadelphia, five men present the Declaration to a man seated in an armchair on the right. Around the room, thirty-six other men stand or are seated. Banners, a drum, and trumpets are grouped on the back wall.

NotesTechnique Note: Hand-coloring is very simple, including only red, blue, pale blue, and gold. Most areas of the print are not colored. Placement of colors differs significantly from 1950.85.0, although the same colors are used in both impressions. (Finlay 12/9/2001)
