DescriptionBlack cotton sateen trimmed with white bias tape, flat shoes. Two straps cross the top of the foot and button at the back of the shoe. A stiff sole lining (possibly leather) is covered on the botton with a plain-woven canvas, and edged with tan twill-woven tape. The shoe is lined with twill-woven cotton around the sides and with plain-woven cotton on the bottom. The bottom of each shoe is stamped with the number "5." The bottom of the shoe has ground-in dirt and sand--evidence of its use at the beach as a bathing shoe.
