DescriptionThree men stand near trolley tracks in a city street. All wear winter clothing, including overcoats and hats. One man appears to be African American. Commercial buildings in the background. Some buildings have awnings, louvered shutters or balconies. A sign, slightly out of focus, reads: "...Geers Sons / City Directory". Additional men and women are on the sidewalk in the background. A building with columns and a classical pediment is at the far right.
NotesSubject Notes: Elihu Geer Sons Printing Company was located at 16 State Street. Also known as the Hartford Printing Company.
The M.C.T referred to on the back of the photograph is probably Mary Curtin Taylor; Mr. M. B. Brainard is probably Morgan Bulkeley Brainard.
The building with the columns at the far right is the Hartford National Bank.
The large main building in the image is the United States Hotel.
