DescriptionBeaded evening bag of cotton and glass beads with Dutch silver frame. Front side shows beaded picture of two figures by a pond with a house, animals and trees in the background, at bottom is a purple section with flowers and at top is a pink beaded band with "Windsor 1831" beaded inside of it. Back side shows beaded picture of a shephardess with her flock along a river with two buldings in the background, trees, and a figure on a sailling vessel, also includes purple section with flowers at the bottom and pink band at top reading "Osvelia K. Howe."

Ornate silver frame has cherrub at center with other mythical figures along sides. Central hinged divider and ornate reticulated chatelaine hook connected to ring at top of frame. Both frame and chatelaine hook have marks. One is a square with "VS/39" inside, and the other appears to be the Minerva Head used as a hallmark of Dutch silver.
NotesObject Note: the Minerva Head stamped into the silver was used as the duty mark in the Netherlands from 1814 to the present. (DePauw 6/16/2011)
