DescriptionKnit fabric infant bonnet, in a hood shape, with a 1 1/2-inch-wide skirt around the neck; the face edge is turned back. The fabric is knit in an open-work design in red with a wide stripe of black with variegated blue and white yarns, chain-like stripes of blue/black variegated yarn, and a plain, narrow, black stripe. The fabric is gathered at the back to shape the crown. The interior of the bonnet is lined with an older whitework-embroidered baby cap. An edging of bobbin lace has been added. The bonnet ties with yarn made of a red yarn and a black yarn plied together. One red and black wool tassel, originally from the tie, is pinned to the bonnet.
