DescriptionA scene from American history depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In the interior of Independence Hall, Philadelphia, five men present the Declaration to a man seated in an armchair on the right. Around the room, thirty six other men stand or are seated. Banners, a drum, and trumpets are grouped on the back wall.
NotesArtist Note: This print was copied after an oil painting by John Trumbull (1756-1843). John Trumbull's sister, Mary Trumbull (1745-1831), was the wife of William Williams (1731-1811), a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
