DescriptionNavy blue velvet little boy's suit, consisting of a jacket and short pants. The jacket (.a) buttons at the neck with a single button and strap arrangement made of the same blue velvet. Three velvet-covered buttons decorate each side of the opening at the bottom. The sleeves are cut with an upper and lower seam like a coat sleeve, and have three buttons at the wrist. The jacket is about waist-length, with two vents in the back, each topped by a decorative button. The neckline is finished with a bias strip of the same brown-black twill-woven cotton that is used for the lining throughout the jacket.

The pants are about knee-length, and buttons closed on each side. Three velvet-covered buttons decorate the side of each leg, near the bottom. The front panel of the pants has pockets of plain-woven white cotton fabric inset on each side. The top of the waist (there is no waistband) is lined with a strip of brown glazed cotton, stitched on the bias. Over this is stitched a strip of white cotton worked with three buttonholes, both front and back. The pants would have buttoned to the shirt, which is no longer with the suit. The seams are finished by hand overcasting.
