DescriptionFull-length portrait of an elderly man seated in a chair beside a desk or table. Several books are piled on the floor. Additional books, a quill pen, an inkwell, and papers are on the table. A portfolio is on a footstool in the left foreground. There appears to be map hanging on the wall in the left background.
NotesSubject Note: Jonathan Trumbull of Lebanon was Governor of the Colony of Connecticut from 1769 to 1776 and Governor of the State of Connecticut from 1776 to 1784. He was the only Colonial Governor to side with the colonists and remained in office throughout the Revolutionary War.
