DescriptionFormal studio portrait of a small blond boy wearing a costume made of shiny material. The costume includes a tall pointed hat, pointed shoes, and stockings. The body of the costume is padded to create the appearance of a round belly.

NotesSubject Note: The costume is inspired by "The Brownies," popular characters created and drawn by the Canadian illustrator Palmer Cox beginning in the 1880s and continuing through the early twentieth century. The Brownies first appeared in magazines and later were the subject of several books. (Finlay 2/1/2011)
