DescriptionThe words "Family Register / MARRIAGES AND BIRTHS" are inscribed in a scroll surrounded by roses with leaves, thorns, buds, and flowers. The head and shoulders of a small child are emerging from a full-blown rose at upper center.
NotesConstituent Note: It seems probable that the Maria B. Cowles who drew and published this Family Register was born in Amerst, MA in 1813 and died in San Francisco, CA in 1894. A Maria B. Cowles, presumably the same woman is listed in Hampshire, MA in the 1860 and 1870 Federal Census. (Information from rootsweb.com and ancestry.com 11/12/2009)
