DescriptionPhotograph album includes photogravures of private residences, churches, and public buildings in Meriden, Connecticut at the turn of the 19th century. Photograph album also includes a photograph of State Representative O. H. Platt and his home.

NotesSubject Notes: 1999.104.6.6 is a photograph of the teachers and children of the German-American School in Meriden.

1999.104.6.74 is a photograph of Orville Hitchcock Platt and his family relaxing on the front porch of their residence. In 1857, Platt was elected to the office of Connecticut Secretary of State. Then in 1861 and 1862, he served in the State Senate. In 1869, Platt became Speaker of the House. After his term he retired; but, was called back into public service in 1877 when he was appointed State's Attorney for New Haven County. In 1879 he was elected to the State Legislature to fill the vacancy in the United States Senate following the death of Senator Orris S. Ferry.

1999.104.6.97 is a photograph of Palace Block in downtown Meriden. Storefronts included in the photograph are Frank Wheeler (Photographer), T. S. Rust (Dentist), Turkish Bath, Bernstein Tailoring, Dr. Meeks, and the Postal Telegraph Office.
