DescriptionA complex of large brick industrial buildings is surrounded by grassy lawns and an iron fence. Young trees and small circular flower gardens are in the lawns. Smoke issues from smokestacks. Some buildings have clerestories, skylights, or dormer windows. Many have decorative brickwork. Horse-drawn vehicles, an electric trolley, and men on bicycles are on the road. The buildings of the city of Hartford and the Park River are in the background.
NotesDate Note: According to the 1895 and 1896 Hartford city directories, "The Pope Manufacturing Company also control and operator factories of the Hartford Cycle Co. and the Hartford Rubber Works." Mention of the Tube Mill first appears in 1897. (Finlay, 11/23/2009)
