Morgan enlisted in the United States Army on September 10, 1861 and mustered in as a Private to Company D, 8th Connecticut Volunteers, Infantry. He died June 11, 1862. Hartford: Case, Lockwood, & Brainard Company, 1889; page.)1985.134.193.13 is a portrait of Private William E. Morgan of Hartford, Connecticut. Morgan enlisted in the United States Army on August 25, 1862. He mustered into the 25th Regiment Infantry on November 11, 1862.
