DescriptionWoman's day dress made of silk, woven with a 3 3/4-inches-wide brown stripe with two rows of brocaded, variegated purple/white flowers down the center; this brown stripe alternates with a 3 1/4-inches-wide stripe consisting of brown shot with purple stripes and satin-woven purple stripes.

A: The bodice has a dipped waist, and high, round neckline. The center front closes with brass hooks and eyes. The bell sleeves are trimmed midway along their length and at the bottom edge with brown silk fringe. The neckline, armscye seams, and waistline edge are finished with self-piping. The bodice is fitted with two 9 1/2-inch-long darts on either side of the center front opening. The proper left edge of the opening is boned. The bodice is lined with white twill-woven cotton; the sleeves are lined with brown glazed cotton.

B: The skirt of matching fabric was removed from the bodice, and a 15" x 62" section was cut out for use as a quilt backing. The skirt is lined with brown glazed cotton, and has a brown twill-woven wool tape binding.

C: Cape collar of matching fabric, lined with brown glazed cotton. The collar comes to a point at center front and center back.
