DescriptionWoman's dress, probably for evening wear, of green silk with a fine woven rib. The dress is sleeveless, and has a wide square neckline in front, and a V neckline in back. The fabric on the left shoulder is manipulated in a manner to make it appear plaited, ending in a pleat over the proper left breast. The other shoulder is plain. The dress falls straight to the waist, which is circumscribed by a 5 1/2-inch wide band, which ends in a twist and tie over the proper left hip, the wide ends hanging loose. The ends of the ties are finished with self-fringe. The skirt below the waist/hip band is stitched in several panels. The right side panel is cut on the bias and wraps around, so that it overlaps the front panel by several inches, and drapes loosely below the right hip. The left side panel is cut in a teardrop shape, with the rounded lower end hanging like tail, about thirteen inches lower than the hem level.
The dress bodice is lined with ecru silk. This lining is shorter than the fashion fabric, which is caught up in the lower edge so that it blouses at the waistline. The neckline and armhole edges are bound with self-fabric, as are the bottom edges of the skirt side panels.
