DescriptionA large group of men and women pose on a grassy lawn beneath trees. The men wear army or navy uniforms. Some of the women wear nurses' uniforms. Some men and women sit cross-legged on the ground; the rest are standing. A sailor at the left holds an American flag. A sign on a building in the background reads: "R.J. HALM / NEW HAVEN / DAIRY ICE CREAM / CONFECTIONARY." The large transparent American flag which appears behind the group was presumably added by the photographer in the process of printing the photograph.
