DescriptionAn International style office building with glass walls is on the far side of a pond and a grassy lawn. The building is partially reflected in the water. Young trees frame the composition and grow beside the building. One large tree is in the lawn.
NotesConstituent Note: Allerton C. Hickmott was Vice President of Connecticut General Life Insurance Company and Treasurer of the Connecticut Historical Society in the 1950s. He was a long-time friend of the artist, Philip Kappel.

Subject Note: The Connecticut General LIfe Insurance Company (1957) was designed by Gordon Bunshaft (1909-1990) of the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and exemplifies the International Style in architecture favored by the firm. Other work by Bunshaft includes Lever House in New York and the Beinecke Library at Yale University in New Haven.
