DescriptionA woman in mourning dress stands beside a funeral monument surmounted with an urn. She holds a handkerchief to her face with her left hand and holds a book in her right hand. A small willow tree arches over the monument. Additional gravestones and trees are at the right. A house, a rail fence, a dirt road, and more trees, including poplars, are at the left. A church with a steeple is in the background.
NotesConstituent Note: "H. Page" is probably the same as "H.P.," who signed the wood engraving. He has been plausibly identified as Harlan Page, who was born in Coventry in 1791 and was active as an illustrator and wood engraver beginning in the 1810s.

Date Note: It has been suggested that the "S. Kellogg" commemorated by this print may be Susan Kellogg, a daughter of Daniel Kellogg and Susan Griggs Kellogg, who was born and died in 1815.
