DescriptionStudents and teachers at Miss Barber's School pose in front of an ivy-covered wall. Twelve young women in the back row are standing. Nine young women in the second row are seated in chairs. Eight girls in the front row are seated cross-legged on oriental rugs on the ground. Most older girls wear skirts and white blouses with a tie at the neck. Younger girls wear dresses and pinafores. Two girls wear sailor blouses. Several girls have bows in their hair.
NotesSubject Note: According to the Hartford City Directories, Lucy A. Barbour (not Barber) operated a private school at her home at 44 Beacon Street. Teachers Mary P. Lewis and Minnie Day Booth both boarded at 44 Beacon Street. (Finlay 3/24/2008)
