DescriptionPredominantly amateur photographs of Amy Tatro ranging from early adulthood to her later years. Amy is seen wearing dresses both with and without sleeves, pants, various hats and headbands, bathing suits, and skirts. In some photographs she is shown standing in the garden, in a field, in the woods, at the beach, and among rocks. In other photographs Amy is seated holding a cat, in an automobile, eating watermelon, in a hay-filled wagon being led by a horse, and in a rocking chair at either an elderly care facility or a nursing home. In most of the photographs, Amy Tatro is posing with other men or women.
NotesSubject Note: Amy Tatro (1906-2004) was a pioneering woman artist, who graduated from Yale in the 1930s and designed jewelry for G. Fox, posters and advertising for the Hartford Electric Light Company, and plastics for Colt Firearms. She was also active as a painter and art teacher, and traveled widely in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. She never married and spent many years caring for her ailing mother.
