DescriptionViews of the G. Fox & Co. building on Main Street Hartford. The two views show the store before 1917.

2007.24.267 shows Main Street looking South from Talcott Street. Several buildings and churches, including Christ Church, are on both sides of the street. Horse-drawn vehicles are parked on the dirt street next to the sidewalk. Utility poles and wires are visible. The 3-story brick building visible at the bottom right was one of the early locations of G. Fox & Co.

2007.24.268 shows the west side of Main Street with several multi-story brick and stone commercial buildings with window displays. The Brown-Thomson building, designed by H. H. Richardson, is visible at the center of the photograph. Several horse-drawn carriages and delivery wagons are on the street. Men and women walk on the sidewalks. A trolley runs on tracks in the street. Utility poles and wires are visible. Some of the buildings' windows have awnings. Signs on the building read, from left to right, "[WOOL]WORTH & CO. 5 and 10[cent] STORE", partially visible, "[N]EAL, GOFF & INGLIS CO. / CARPETS / FURNITURE / MEN'S AND MISSES' SUITS / WALLPAPER. / PAINTING AND DECORATING / STRETCHED / CANVAS CEILINGS / A SPECIALTY.", also, "THE NEAL, GOFF, & INGLIS CO.", "WE GIVE S & H GREEN TRADING STAMPS", "972 G.
