NotesSubject Note: A letter from George Auerbach to Moses and Theresa Stern Fox dated 1/21/1911 discusses the engagement portrait of George Auerbach and Beatrice Fox (2007.45.3). George writes: "I just received the photographs of Beatrice and the one where she and I are together and I rather like the faces but don't think that Mrs. Dupont [the photographer] is what she thinks she is. On all of the pictures I can see certain mistakes in the posing that were absolutely unnecessary--such as hands showing too plainly, feet being too big (of course that isn't Madame's fault) and other small faults that might have been avoided. It certainly is a very fine picture of Beatrice though and taken all in all I rather like the whole picture." (Ms 99795)On View
