DescriptionKey-shaped trade sign made of white metal, painted with black and bronze-colored paint. The key-shaped piece (.a) of the sign has two hanging hook on the lower edge, to attach a second, smaller, rectangular (.b) sign.
The key is oriented with its grooved edge up. The key has a round head with a hole toward the left edge, just like a real key, for hanging the key on a chain. Printed in black letters between the hole and the rounded edge of the key head is, "YALE & TOWNE MFG.CO.STAMFORD.CONN.U.S.A.". In large black letters across the middle of the key head is the name "YALE". The narrow body of the key is printed in black lettering, "TRADE YALE MARK". Printed in small black letters at the lower right edge of the body of the key is, "THE ELECTRO-CHEMICAL ENGR.CO.N.Y." The back of the sign is printed exactly the same way as the front; both sides look identical, except that the key head is on the right side, not the left, when viewed from that side. On the back, the end of the body of the key closest to the key head is printed in small black letters, "LITHO IN U.S.A 2650-12-24-25".
The rectangular piece of the sign (.b) has a border of black paint around the edge. It is printed in large, thick black letters, "WE MAKE KEYS". As with the key-shaped piece of the sign, the back of the rectangle is painted the same way as the front, so the sign can be read from either side.
