DescriptionButton .8 is a white circular button with an image of a green praying mantis in the center. Printed in black ink is, "SUPPORT/ THE/ PRAYING/ MANTIS/ CONN. STATE INSECT". On verso, hand-written in black marker, "CT State Insect/ May 1977/ 31 official:/ 10/1/77". A white paper sticker is affixed between the word "May" and the date "1977". Hand-written in black ink, the sticker reads, "RARE/ $75.00".

Button .9 is rectangular, with gold-colored plate and green, yellow, white, and red enamel. A green praying mantis with a yellow belly with red dots holds a white and yellow flower. Gold lettering in a white enameled area reads "CONNECTICUT" at the top of the button and "TOKYO-1978" at the bottom.

A 1977 penny was crushed into an oval shape to create .10. The back of the penny has raised lettering that reads, "CONNECTICUT STATE INSECT/ MAY 31 [image of a praying mantis] 1977/ PRAYING MANTIS".
