DescriptionLight brown stuffed bear with hard plastic eyes, a fabric covered hard plastic nose, and chocolate-colored felt footpads on the bottom of his feet. The bear wears a red plaid hat, a yellow shirt with a black-printed design, and red plaid pants that match the hat. The hat is attached to the bear's head with three evenly spaced plastic tabs. The shirt and pants are both removable; each garment has a velcro closure on the back. A circle printed in black on the center front of the bear's shirt has the words, "CANON/ GREATER/ HARTFORD/ OPEN", over an image of a hole on a golf course, over the letters, "GHO". In his up-raised left paw, the bear holds a plastic golf club. The head of the club is painted silver, and the grip of the club is painted black. A white fabric label printed in reddish brown ink is stitched to the back of the bear's left leg (see Marks).
NotesHistorical Note: The Greater Hartford Open is a golf tournament that was founded in 1952 as the Insurance City Open. From 1973 through 1988, it bore the name of entertainer Sammy Davis, Jr., who would often play in the pro-ams. Canon was a long-time sponsor of this tournament, and their employees would often take vacation time during tournament week to volunteer at the event. For the tournament's first three decades, it was played at Wethersfield Country Club in Wethersfield, Connecticut. In 1984, after the PGA tour bought and redesigned Edgewood Country Club; the event moved to the new TPC River Highlands of Connecticut in Cromwell. (Hudson 4/18/2007)Status
