DescriptionTrees line the banks of a small river. An arched bridge spans the river in the background. Factory buildings with smoke issuing from a tall smokestack are beyond, on the right bank of the river. A leafless tree or bush is in the foreground.
Object number2007.17.0
NotesConstituent Note: Watercolor is not signed by Weir but appears consistent with his watercolor style and subject matter in the late 1890s. Similar views also appear in oil paintings from this period. The tree in the foreground is directly based on a Japanese print that Weir owned. (Finlay 7/25/2007) Subject Note: The composition closely corresponds to the view depicted in a postcard, "Glimpse of the River, Arch Bridge and Windham Manufacturing Plant."
