DescriptionExterior and interior views of the Goodwin Building show the structure before it was gutted. Exteriors of the brick building include terra cotta decoration, stained glass, towers, and storefronts. Businesses include "Mr. Tuxedo" "M-Z Cleaners" "J.C. Hall Dance Supplies" "S & G Sandwich Shop" "Andre Custom Framing" "The Bare Facts" and "Melody Music Co." Automobiles and trucks are parked beside the sidewalks. Parking meters and street signs appear in some photographs. Interiors include shop interiors with merchandise displayed, including clothing and musical instruments. Two photogrpahs show the interior of a printing business offering "reprographic services." Other interiors are upper story apartments or offices, with staircases, wainscoting, radiators, pipes, fireplaces, windows, light fixtures, furniture, and kitchen appliances, including a sink and a gas stove.
NotesSubject Note: The Goodwin Building was begun in 1881 by Kimball & Wisedell and completed in the 1890s. Although the walls remain intact, the Arts-and-Crafts interior was gutted in 1985-1986. (Finlay 5/9/2007)
