DescriptionRectangular grey cardboard box with a hinged lid. This box is the packaging for six dessert knives (not in the box). The top of the box has an ornate design that included the words, "TRADE MARKS/ WM. ROGERS & SON./ 1865 WM. ROGERS M'F'G CO./ ROGERS/ THE WM. ROGERS MANUF'G CO./ HARTFORD, CONN." and "1/2 Doz./ DESSERT KNIVES/ No. 12/ SOLID STEEL HANDLE/ SILVER TRIPLE PLATE."

The interior of the box is covered in burgundy colored paper. A paper label is affixed to the interior of the lid; it is printed in yellow, black, red, and white. To the left is the image of a bearded man, identified below as "WM. ROGERS./ FOUNDER OF THE WM. ROGERS MFG. CO. DIED FEB. 17TH 1873." Printing to the right of the image of the man includes details about the silver content of the knives and how they compare to the products of competitors. The center of the label has a black rectangle with a thin red border. Printed inside the rectangle in white letters is, "The WM ROGERS MANUFACTURING/ CO./ Silver Plated/ Table Ware."
