DescriptionLapel pin in 10 karat gold in the shape of a Greek key with an oval shield decorated with a laurel wreath, the letters Delta, Kappa, Gamma, and a Greek urn symbolizing the cup of knowledge. (The cup of knowledge and the laurel wreath on the crest represent achievement.) The verso is marked "GB" and is engraved: "BEATRICE/ FOX/ AUERBACH/ MAY 11./ 1929".

NotesHistorical Note: The Delta Kappa Gamma Society promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Beatrice Fox Auerbach was especially interested in the field of education. In 1941 she established a foundation to provide scholarships and in 1939 she set up the Auerbach major in retailing and allied fields at the Connecticut College for Women. In 1956 she endowed a professorship in economics at Trinity College and in 1967 she established at the University of Hartford the Beatrice Fox Auerbach Hall which houses the School of Business.
