DescriptionA round metal lapel pin with a pin soldered to the back that is secured with a locking catch. The pin is made of a plated metal in a gold tone and the initials "N.A.A.C.P" are superimposed on an open book being weighed on a set of scales. The words "LIFE MEMBER" appear in gold on a dark blue enamel ground. The pin has an image of an open book with a set of balanced scales. Across the book "NAACP" appears on a banner. The pin appears to be in its original plastic box; the square box has two parts that are hinged with a maroon colored bottom and a clear top; the box is lined with a piece of card flocked in dark blue made to accommodate the pin.
Object number1986.213.16
NotesDate note: The pin can probably more accurately be dated by determining the year Beatrice Fox Auerbach was made a life member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). (Blakelock 10/30/2008)On View
