DescriptionWhite leather, buttoned infant boots. The button fly is scalloped and laps to the outside of the foot; it closes with four white, dome-shaped ceramic buttons on metal shanks. The toes are round and there is no heel. The top edge of the boot is very slightly scalloped. This edge is lined with white leather. The rest of the upper is lined with white twill-woven cotton. The sock lining is white plain-woven cotton. The turned sole is brown leather and it is straight.
NotesObject Note: Dr. Roderick Bissell Jones (1898-1974) and his brother, Edward Payson Jones II, both wore these infant shoes at their baptisms.
