DescriptionGold cigarette case in rectangular, hipped shape with a plain exterior and applied disk engraved "B.F.A." tied with two pendant diamonds, and a blue cabochon stone inset in thumb piece. Case is marked on the interior with symbols for date and place of manufacture (1903, Chester, England), for maker (C & C for Collins and Cook) and for karat weight (18).
Object number1986.213.2
NotesDate Note: The date mark on the interior of the gold case indicates it was made in 1903 (when Beatrice Fox would have been sixteen years old); however, the monogram on the disk, "B.F.A." suggests a date after April 15, 1911, the date of Beatrice Fox's marriage to George Auerbach. The monogram may have been added at a later date. (Blakelock 11/20/2008)
