DescriptionThree young men in military uniforms pose with three young women in the interior of a restaurant. One man wears a Marines uniform; another wears a Navy uniform. The third may be wearing an Army uniform. One woman wears a coat with a fur collar and cuffs. Two women have pierced ears with earrings. All are smiling. Liquor bottles and glasses are on a counter or bar in the foreground. A painted wall or backdrop is in the background.
NotesHistorical Note: According to Columbia Anne Boticello, this is a photograph of her, her cousins, and a serviceman, taken at Miller's Rest in Manchester, Connecticut, in 1943. Miss Botticello states that Miller's Restaurant was a very popular establishment at that time. (Hudson 1/8/2007)

Date Note: Although the date "1943" appears in several places on the photograph, it was apparently added after the fact. Howard Miller joined the army on his eighteenth birthday in 1945, so the photograph, which shows Miller in uniform, must have been taken in that year. Miller served as a medic in the army, but the war ended before he could be shipped overseas. (Finlay 4/26/2013)
