DescriptionPair of man's basketball shoes, made as reproduction of the Dr. Naismith basketball shoes made in about 1892 by the Colchester Rubber Company. The shoes are brown, with an off-white rubber sole. The rubber extends about one inch up the shoe all the way around; the front and top of the toe also have a strip of brown rubber. An off-white rubber circle is attached to the inner ankle of each shoe. The center of the circle has a crown stamped inside it. Running around the crown are the words, "COLCHESTER RUBBER CO." Each shoe has eight pairs of metal eyelets for the laces; the laces are off-white.
Label TextThis pair of men's shoes are a reproduction of the first pair of basketball sneakers made by the Colchester Rubber Company. The originals were made in 1892 for Dr. James Naismith, the inventor of basketball. Those original basketball shoes put Colchester on the map for being the world's first basketball sneaker brand.
