DescriptionA man with a beard and mustache stoops beneath the weight of a large cross which he bears on his right shoulder. He wears a long robe and a crown of thorns. His head is surrounded by a halo. He is barefoot. A rope tied around his waist is held by a man at the far left, wearing a tunic, cloak, sandals, and plaid stockings. A woman at the right has her hands clasped at her breast. She wears a long cloak or shawl over her head and has sandals on her feet. Two additional bearded men stand in the background. One wears a turban. The other wears a helmet and carries a staff or standard.
