NotesPrevious Owner Note: Elizabeth Parke Custis Lewis, who originally gave the silhouettes to Elizabeth Bordley Gibson, was the daughter of Martha Washington by a previous marriage. Her husband, Lawrence Lewis, was the favorite nephew of George Washington. The couple lived at Woodlawn Plantation, in Viriginia, near Washington, D.C. The plantation is now (2010) an historic site operated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.On View
