DescriptionA small frame building, possibly a shed or outbuilding, is at the far side of a large grassy field. Rail fences at the right appear to enclose pasture for farm animals. Additional houses and fences are on a hill in the background, beyond a band of trees.
NotesDate Note: Although the inscription on the back, in Nelson Augustus Moore's hand, states that the photograph was taken "about 1860," the Stonehouse was not completed until 1861, and the inscription implies that the house was in existence when the photograph was taken. It probably was taken a few years later, in the mid-1860s. (Finlay 9/22/2006)Subject Note: The view is from the back of the Stonehouse, the Moore family home in Kensington, Connecticut.
