DescriptionCrazy quilt consisting of a foundation-pieced top of brightly colored satin-woven and compound weave silks, cotton batting, and a plain-woven cotton backing. The pieced top consists of on point square blocks, each formed from four triangular pieces of silk, that are separated by black silk sashing. Small silk yarn tufts are tied onto the quilt at each juncture of the sashing; the tufts are tied through the top of the quilt only. This is surrounded by a border of quarter- and half-circle fans with silk embroidery. Each side of the quilt is edged with black silk binding that is decorated with silk embroidery. The backing is plain-woven white cotton printed in blue with herons.

Condition: Several pieces of silk have shattered.
