DescriptionMost photographs are formal studio portraits of unidentified men, women and children, presumably friends and family of Meta Heinze, who appears in some photographs. Many are bust portraits of women with fancy dresses and jewelry and men with fancy ties. Some men and women are standing with books and paintings. The children in the photographs are either standing or sitting on or near chairs. Some are group photographs of weddings and Meta with her friends and family. In many of the photographs women and children are wearing white dresses. Two photographs show flowers for a funeral and a postcard saying "Compliments of Knight / 'LOOK PLEASANT! NOW- REALLY!-' / 'OWL RIGHT!'"
NotesSubject note: This album consists of photographs of Meta Heinze before she was married to Alexander Tatro. Meta was born in Sweden and moved to the United States in 1880. She came with her sister and they worked as maids for wealthy families around Hartford such as the Ponds. the Ponds House in Elizabeth Park is named after them. She married Alexander in 1900 and her daughter Amy was born in 1906. (1910 Federal Census, Hartford Courant, Sep. 12, 2004)
