DescriptionBicycle tire or rubber repair kit in a painted metal case (a). The kit includes a metal injector (b), a tube of adhesive (c), a metal implement (d), possibly for puncturing the seal on the adhesive tube, and a role of patching fabric (e).
The case is painted yellow, with decoration and writing in black. The top of the case reads: "THE/ HARTFORD TIRE/ REPAIR KIT". Below and to the left of that print is, "THE HARTFORD/ RUBBER WORKS CO." and to the right is, "HARTFORD, BOSTON,/ NEW YORK, PHILADELPHIA,/ CHICAGO,/ MINNEAPOLIS,/ TORONTO,/ BALTIMORE,/ CLEVELAND,/ ST. LOUIS,/ DENVER." The underside of the case reads: "DIRECTIONS./ Turn the tire so that the puncture is at/ the bottom and inject a small quantity of/ cement. Work the tire between the fingers/ so as to spread the cement all around the/ puncture. Inject a second portion, wind/ with tape and inflate. Remove the tape next/ day. The Puncture must always be at the bottom while the cement is being injected./ MERSE[two illegible letters]AU MFG. CO, BOXES. BROOKLYN, N.Y."
